Maytée Ferrigno - More than 20 years ago Maytée and her husband Juan dreamed of a better life and immigrated to Canada. They found their place in Canadian culture, but not without their share of struggles and adjustments. Maytée had to adapt not only to a new culture, but to a different language and especially to Canadian weather, since she is from Guatemala, the country of "Eternal Spring". She has learned to overcome homesickness, to maintain her language and culture, and share it. Maytée has worked in a variety of jobs over the years: with different non-profit organizations, teaching Spanish in college and high school, and has her own business of Spanish Services. It is these experiences that make her a valuable member of the VDISS team as an Employment Counselor.
